Life is full of unexpected changes and things don’t always go according to plan. We’ve gotten used to small roadblocks and challenges for which we had to get creative to overcome. We’ve run into perhaps the most significant detour yet, and it really has nothing to do with the tiny house.

We were very lucky to be interviewed by our local Fox affiliate here in Las Vegas a few weeks back. We spent about 2 hours with Jon Castagnino, talking about our project and our hopes for a tiny house community here in Vegas. He was great, and was really interested in the project. The story aired last night, and we were really happy to see the additional information about the tiny houses in the downtown Las Vegas area, even if there isn’t much official news to go on about them yet. It was great that the story was more than just us – we’re hoping this helps spur some interest and growth in the movement here in southern Nevada! Wow. It hardly seems like yesterday we were hauling our new trailer into the back yard, and here we are installing roof rafters! We still have a long ways to go, but getting the roof on will be a really monumental occasion, and putting the rafters up is the first major step in that part of the plan. It all starts with rim joists…
With the loft flooring finished, we were finally able to continue with framing our upper walls. We’re getting closer to a roof! After some careful measuring and counting, we place what we hoped would be our final order (for structural framing, anyway). It was delivered a few days before Christmas – we joked about this being Santa’s new sleigh:
